This guide's purpose is to be concise and present different tiers of rifle setups for the home defense and patrol use case. The "why" will be covered somewhat less but perhaps the document will be expanded later to include more on rationale

Use Case #1 - Home Defense

The home defense use case is also covered in the budget setups guide but this will include a wider variety of options and more budget tiers. Only covers short range use case.

Price Range: ~$950-1800 This tier is the best overall value tier. You get everything that is a good idea to have that the budget tier lacks. If you're not sure what budget to spend but you could comfortably afford one of these options, this is the no-nonsense good rifle option to go with.

Tier #3: Premium

Price Range: ~$2400-4000 This tier is past the diminishing returns point but there are things about these options that are genuinely nicer. If you're willing to spend as much as makes sense to spend for something very nice, go with this tier; otherwise, save your money. More expensive options than this tier exist but are an extremely questionable value. These setups can be pieced together to save money but for simplicity this will be mostly complete rifles.

Use Case #2 - Patrol Rifle

This covers the use case of living in an area with larger properties and lots of space. These rifles are still entirely usable at close range but are capable of extending out farther if need be.
